Artist Bio

Rex Razor: rapper, writer, singer and poet born Richard Shekari on 11th of April 1981 in Bauchi, north-eastern state of Nigeria (West Africa). Rex, the last of five whose parents got divorced while he was only seven months in the womb spent the first eleven years of his life with his mother Gladys,and at the age of twelve, Rex moved with his Dad; Luke O. Shekari who was already married to another woman with five children, making Rex fifth of ten. His father later died in 2007. The underground rapper developed his love for rap music after lending his time and ears to the rap legend Tupac Amaru Shakur in the late 90’s. Rex, left the choir at an early age of 16 and later teamed up with a colleague and formed a group popularly known as “DXV; Da Xotic Venom” but the two didn’t last long…after a dispute, Rex went solo in 2004. He held his horses over music to round up his first degree in the department of Architecture at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University in Nigeria. He later came back as REX RAZOR. His music mostly circled around his personal life experience; the struggle in the jungle with both physical and spiritual forces, a blend of sad stories backed by sweet chorus tune coalesced between gospel and urban tongue touch. Though not a gospel artiste, his songs hover around the war between good and evil, lugubriousness and cloud nine.
