Ghana Police are well known for demanding cash from drivers whose cars they stop however, it looks like they’ve graduated to armed robbery itself, according to the account of one social media user.
Yussuf Bouda, in a post on Facebook, laid down his story of being accosted by one policeman for making a call whilst driving.
He claims the officer threatened to shoot him unless he bribed him.
The policeman made away with Ghc 1,500, according to Bouda, who backed up his story with video evidence.
His story is reproduced, unedited, below…
“What you are watching is not one of Anas’s tapes, this is a video of a police officer who extorted Ghc1500 from us yesterday just bcos he said we were making a call while driving…” Bouda wrote.
“He entered into our car, directed us to an isolated place at Asylum down, threatened he has a pistol on him therefore we shldnt act funny and made away with Ghc1500.. This is how bad these men in uniform who are supposed to protect us have become. ??
“He said his name is Sergeant Botwe from the castle.. I doubt if that is his real name..
“Pls share to help me find this police man!”
